JOB TITLE: Tutor

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Tutors work part-time with students either one on one or in small group settings providing reading, spelling, writing, and math instruction to students of all ages. Tutoring takes place in person at the Turning Pages office location, in schools, libraries, or remotely.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and implement individualized lessons
- Write progress reports
- Attend monthly in-services
- Communicate with parents regularly
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors or master's degree from an accredited college or university
- Complete 46 hours of training in the Orton-Gillingham approach (training provided by Turning Pages)
- Complete 2 hours of remote lesson planning and remote presentation (training provided by Turning Pages)
KEY COMPETENCIES
Language Skills - Must possess:
- the ability to read, analyze, and interpret textbooks, technical procedures, and other written materials
- the ability to communicate information both orally and in writing to students, administrators, parents, and co-workers
Computer Skills
- familiarity with Google Chrome and Google Workspace is important, but training can be provided
Reasoning Abilities - Must possess:
- the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations
- the ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw conclusions
- the ability to use information to develop realistic long-term and short-term plans for individual students
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and parents through oral and written communication
- Must be able to implement lessons based on objectives and the student's needs and abilities
