Lake Michigan Academy is the only school in West Michigan dedicated to teaching children with learning disabilities. Our staff includes certified teachers and experts in the field of learning disabilities. We understand that learning differences impact an individual at school, at home, at work, and in relationships.
Lake Michigan Academy has been supporting students and parents in West Michigan for nearly 35 years. As part of our mission, we have now developed the Lake Michigan Academy Resource Center to support our students, our alumni, and our greater community.
Assessment
Resource Center Specialists can administer a series of tests to provide data for a Learner Profile for a child or adult. These assessments include tests which measure phonological awareness, reading decoding, reading comprehension, reading fluency, written expression, math calculation, math problem solving, listening comprehension and/or oral expression as well as processing, memory and attention.
Based on the results of assessments and other available data, a Learner Profile can be generated to better understand the strengths and weaknesses of the learner and to inform decisions about planning accommodations or interventions.
Fees start at $395.
Support
Resource Center Specialists can meet with parents or adults to discuss an individual’s strengths and challenges and provide information related to additional resources for students with learning differences including (but not limited to):
- tutoring services
- communicating with schools
- accessing support services in college
- employability
